Most Reliable Hard Drive

Tags:, , .

According to a study conducted by Google, the most reliable hard drive typically depends a lot more on the manufacturer and model rather than external factors such as operating temperature and usage. This study was based on their own internal hard drive usage, which includes many thousands of hard drives used over the course of the company’s 10 year history.

Hard drive failure can be a catastrophic event for most people. Think about how much information you would lose if your hard drive were to die right now. Traditional hard drives with spinning platters and swinging arms are prone to mechanical failure. It really isn’t a matter of if your hard drive will fail; it’s just a matter of when.

most reliable hard driveMany computer hardware enthusiasts would agree that Western Digital makes some of the most reliable hard drives known to man. Their reliability is truly unsurpassed with many consumers reporting zero failures in the manufacturer’s warranty period, even after owning many different Western Digital drives.

The most reliable line of Western Digital hard drives is their Caviar series. Many of the Caviar series hard drives such as the Caviar WD205Bx and the Caviar WD1200JB are in the top percentile among all hard drives for lowest failure rate. Many of the drives released by Western Digital in the early 2000s are still operating today, well outside of the original 5 year manufacturer’s warranty.

The Western Digital Raptor series is also among the most reliable line of hard drives being manufactured today. These drives are a little more expensive than the Caviar series but often offer better features such as a bigger cache and faster RPM and transfer speeds.

Many people also report that Western Digital makes the RMA process quick and painless for those drives that do fail within the warranty period. They will send you a shipping label to send the drive to them and only require a $5 fee for return shipping. This makes Western Digital not just the most reliable hard drive, but also the best for customer service.

Cape Verde Islands

Tags:, .

Cape Verde is an archipelago nation consisting of ten islands and 8 volcanic origin isles. The island nation lies, off the West African coast, in the North Atlantic Ocean. Nine of its ten islands are currently inhabited. The island did not have any native population when it was discovered and later occupied by Portuguese.

cape verde islandsIt became a center for African slaves. It was also a stopover center for whaling and transatlantic shipping. The country gained independence from the Portugal in 1975. Most of the population has both African as well as Portuguese ancestry. The country had to face repeated droughts during the later part of the 20th century which caused heavy emigration. Thus, the expatriate population outnumbers the domestic population of Cape Verde. It has one of the most stable democratic governments in Africa.

After independence the Cape Verde islands are coming into the attention of global tourists. Tourists wanting to try out new exotic locales and less crowded areas are looking forward to Cape Verde. The unique ancestry of the Cape Verde people provide a blend of culture most obvious in their music; a unique fusion of Samba, Salsa with a hint of tribal African.

The long beaches with white sand and clear blue-green sea call out to the tourists. The architecture of Cape Verde is of the colonial era and gives a historical look to the place. The island is home to the first European City in the tropics. The Islands provide scenery of breathtaking beauty. The climate of the Cape Verde Islands is temperate with very low rainfalls. The winds are steady and along with clear oceans, encourage a number of water sports. The trade winds keep the climate moderate and humidity low.

Warm ocean waters, even during winters, make swimming a pleasure. The rainy season is August to October but the rainfall is low and unpredictable. Evenings may become a bit chilly, requiring a light sweater. Cape Verde is a beautiful place which provides great opportunities for fun and adventure to those who dare to choose the path less ordinary.
